Lately I’m hearing quite a lot of music, among the styles, electronic, funk and classic. I wanted to share this special moment in Piazzolla’s life, where he mets Nadia Boulanger, his teacher in Paris. The insightful Boulanger turned his life around in a day, as Piazzolla tells beautifully in his own words:

“When I met her, I showed her my kilos of symphonies and sonatas. She started to read them and suddenly came out with a horrible sentence: ‘It’s very well written.’
And stopped, with a big period, round like a soccer ball. After a long while, she said:
“Here you are like Stravinsky, like Bartók, like Ravel, but you know what happens? I can’t find Piazzolla in this.”
And she began to investigate my private life: what I did, what I did and did not play, if I was single, married, or living with someone, she was like an FBI agent! And I was very ashamed to tell her that I was a tango musician. Finally I said, “I play in a ‘night club.’” I didn’t want to say “cabaret.” And she answered, “Night club, mais oui, but that is a cabaret, isn’t it?” “Yes,” I answered, and thought, “I’ll hit this woman in the head with a radio….” It wasn’t easy to lie to her.
She kept asking: “You say that you are not pianist. What instrument do you play, then?” And I didn’t want to tell her that I was a bandoneon player, because I thought, “Then she will throw me from the fourth floor.” Finally, I confessed and she asked me to play some bars of a tango of my own. She suddenly opened her eyes, took my hand and told me: “You idiot, that’s Piazzolla!” And I took all the music I composed, ten years of my life, and sent it to hell in two seconds.”

Piazzolla returned to Argentina in 1955, formed the Octeto Buenos Aires to play tangos, and never looked back.

This year I’ve developed and installed our own CMS for the International Seminar of Innovation & Tourism 2007.
This included integrating the website design and interactivity such us forms and online registrations.

As we can see in the pictures above, the branding for the signals was made by another agency, which I think it’s not bad but has nothing to do with the Branding image this year.

DOPPLR is a site to know where your friends will travel. The slogan is “Where Next ?”

I’ve been invited to Dopplr last summer when I met Marco in the Menorca tech-meeting.
Dopplr received funding from a premier international team: Varsavsky, Ito, Hoffman and Klein made an investment and joined thieir team. Go ahead and read all about it on Dopplr’s blog.

I really hope Dopplr makes it to the top because it’s a great idea.

Minus 8

Minus 8 masters the whole spectrum of Downbeat, Drum & Bass and Nu-Jazz. There are only a few internationally known DJs, producers and remixers from Switzerland. Robert Jan Meyer, aka Minus 8, is one of them.

Sven van Hees

Early 90’s , Sven recorded for labels such as Wonka and Atom/Elektron. ‘Drumattack’ by Jambo ( Wonka records ) turned into one of the most popular club anthems in 1992.

Towa Tei

Towa Tei is a Japanese-born DJ, who first earned notice for his production work on the Jungle Brothers’ 1989 LP Done by the Forces of Nature. In 2005, Towa Tei released a new album dubbed Flash and a new single with Kylie Minogue, “Sometime Samurai”, which reached number six in Japan.

S-Tone Inc.

S-Tone Inc. has been for over ten years the primary music project of Stefano Tirone, musician from Milan, whose first music experiences date back to the early 80’s, during the new wave era.

Jaffa

Mr. David Kakon aka Jaffa was discovered by Nude Recordings (Canada), then cared by StereoDeluxe in Europe. David was born in Montreal 1976, has an honours degreee in Pure Mathematics, 15 years of classical piano training behind him and besides that became a complete organ maniac, collecting vintage keyboards and producing his own music.
